Provins is a charming city about 100 km from the center of Paris, known for its well-preserved medieval fortifications and buildings. It is also very convenient to get to and from with the Transilien Ligne P, making it a great point-to-point option. If you haven't been, it's certainly worth a visit, and what better way to explore it than by bike!
The route between Paris and Provins is pretty flat, and if the wind is in your favor, it can be a very quick 100 km. To extend the ride a bit, this route adds an extra 25 km.

The route follows the Marne River out of Paris along the bike path. It can be a little slow at the beginning, but don't worry—the roads will open up soon, and you'll be able to make up the time.
After 25 km along the Marne, you cut south and climb up to the open fields and forests where your speed picks up significantly. On nearly every ride, the next 75 km has been over a 30 kph average without trying too hard, especially if you are in a peloton.
The route takes you into the modern Provins city center first and then leads you up to the real attraction of the city—the medieval section. To see the best part of town, you are faced with one last challenge: a 14% climb. But don't worry, it's over fast. At the top, there are many cool buildings and a square where you can get a bite to eat or, more importantly, a beer to refuel before your return to Paris. The route takes you back down the hill to the train station, where you can easily hop on Line P and be back to Paris Est in less than an hour and a half for only €2.50 with the new metro ticket prices.
